Dear UTP CREW, This E-mail was send due to the issues that I myself personally, and my fellow UTPian friends are not satisfied about:

1. The fixed payment on the PRINTING/ PHOTOCOPYING service that is provided by the IRC


• It's just as you all might have known by now the free service printing and copying (bring your own A4 paper) provided by the CIS BUILDING (building 1 & 2) has no longer provided. Instead we have to use the IRC service but we the fees that the student have to pay is a little to expensive RM 15 + 5 (deposit for card) RM15 = 150 pages. If the values are done we need to top up RM15 more. Isn't that kinda expensive.
  


• I know the IRC has standardize the price as in 1 paper = 10cent. but we student are usually always in need of printing but can't the price be lowered down to RM10 without the "deposit for card". Making it RM 10 + 5 (deposit for card).


2. We all are aware of the brilliant UTP utilities and most wonderful building equip with high end facilities but ever think back about the utilities and facilities for the student. Yes, I'm reporting about the facilities of the student VILLAGE especially VILLAGE 6 which is the OLD VILLAGE. The matters of concerning the village is:
   
   
   • The bathroom facilities - even though the workers who came to clean are doing a very good job (I applauded for the workers that have been keeping the toilets, bathroom, and all the necessary hygiene around the village) but I am more focused on the facilities, with broken pipes, non-functional washing machine (has recently been fixed) , doors that the locks are not functional and also at VILLAGE 6 DUYUNG, the lamp has not been working seen we started our semester.
   
   
3. Internet, I myself have to access the elearning daily, but the internet hereat V6 seldom cannot be connected. I do not what actually is the problem regarding the internet. But due to the fact that the connection of the internet always dead, is making it frustrating.
   
   We sometimes have to take an online quiz you know. but when suddenly the connection was cut off we cannot submit the quizzes. And here we can't point fingers to anyone. Then what should I tell my lecturer later on. I know there's internet connection anywhere within UTP. But let say some we have an online quiz to submit and we would prefer to take the quiz in our room. Its because we don't to change into proper attire just in order to attain the quiz.
   
   What use is it having a laptop and internet connection that the connection always cut off.


4. Regarding the summons. I have heard that the rules have just been implemented during MAY 2011 intake. About student can't take a nap in the IRC.

If you guys have read the blog surely u know by now. Why can't we take a nap. POWER NAP. Or sometimes we just suddenly fall asleep without knowing.
   
   BAM!!! There's a security officer handing our summons. The rules are too strict. But they say to encourage us to go study in the IRC but if suddenly fall asleep (without any intention of falling asleep going to the IRC) why do we to be summons for the crime that we ourselves couldn't control.
   

I hope regarding this email certain actions are to be taken about the issues that I have mentioned above. It is not matter that concerns only myself but for the fellow UTPians too.

Pertama sekali, harap maaf atas kehilangan kami sejak sebulan ini. Biasa la, kami agak sibuk dengan kehidupan peribadi kami. Akan tetapi, kami akan sentiasa menghiburkan anda dengan tulisan-tulisan kami yang bukan untuk mengkritik, tapi untuk membina, membaiki serta membetulkan diri kami dan rakan-rakan dan alumni UTP sekalian

1. Persiapan Pesta Konvo kali ini bermula agak lambat berbanding tahun-tahun sebelum ini. Ini sudah dijangka memandangkan desas-desus sejak berakhirnya Pesta Konvo 2010 di mana Pesta Konvo 2010 mungkin kali yang terakhir.

2. Akan tetapi, dengan keluarnya poster-poster pengambilan ahli-ahli jawatankuasa Pesta Konvo pada awal bulan Ogos, mematikan segala keraguan tentang status Pesta Konvo 2011. Ya, semangat Pesta Konvo masih lagi hidup di Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS ini.

3. Hanya kurang 2 bulan sahaja tinggal untuk Majlis Konvokesyen dan Pesta Konvo 2011, tapi sambutan pelajar terhadap Pesta Konvo agak menyedihkan. Sejak laman MukaBuku Pesta Konvo 2011 dibuka sejak 12 Ogos 2011, hanya 111 pengguna yang sahaja menyukai laman tersebut buat masa ini, jauh daripada jumlah mahasiswa UTP sebanyak 6,000 orang.

4. Adakah semua masih belum menggunakan gear tinggi untuk persiapan Pesta Konvo? Ataupun semua tidak bersabar untuk meraikan Hari Raya yang baru saja berlalu? Perlu diingat bahawa jawatankuasa Pesta Konvo hanya ada kurang dari 2 bulan untuk membuktikan bahawa mereka mampu menganjurkan Pesta Konvo terbaik dalam persiapan yang cukup singkat.

5. Jawatankuasa Pesta Konvo telah menganjurkan Sesi Pelan Strategi & Bina Semangat untuk jawatankuasa-jawatankuasa Pesta Konvo. Kami merasakan pelajar-pelajar lain memberikan sokongan moral kepada mereka, kerana tugas mereka adalah yang paling mencabar daripada mana-mana acara sebelum ini.

6. Walaupun Pesta Konvo hanyalah sesi selingan sempena Majlis Konvokesyen, akan tetapi Pesta Konvo yang paling diberikan perhatian kerana itu adalah acara yang dirancang 100% oleh pelajar-pelajar sambil dibantu oleh kakitangan-kakitangan UTP.

7. Walaupun penjualan Kek Lapis Sarawak mendahului perancangan-perancangan lain, sebenarnya perkara itu sesuatu yang bagus. Sekurang-kurangnya, kami tahu Jabatan Perniagaan telah memulakan perjuangan mereka.

8. Maka, kami di UTPian media bersedia memberi sokongan padu kepada Pesta Konvo 2011. Lebih-lebih lagi, ada di antara bakal kembali ke UTP untuk menerima skrol daripada Canselor atau Pro-Canselor. Selamat maju jaya kepada Pesta Konvo 2011!

Kami bercakap terlalu baku? Jangan risau, kami menulis dalam dwi-bahasa untuk memastikan bahasa ibunda dan bahasa antarabangsa terjamin kualitinya. Translasi untuk bahasa antarabangsa ada di bawah ya.

First of all, we would like to apologize for our disappearance for the past month. Well, we are quite busy would our own daily private lives. However, we will try our best to entertain our lovely followers and readers with our thoughts which is not meant to critic but to help and correct ourselves and also our fellow UTP alumnus and friends.


1. The preparation for Convofair this time kicked off quite late compared to the previous years. This has been expected as there were rumours since Convofair 2010 ended where Convofair 2010 might the last Convofair ever.


2. However, with the posters of Convofair committee recruitment were visible on early August, kills off the doubt about Convofair 2011 status. Yes, the Convofair spirit is still alive in this Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS.


3. With less than 2 months left for Convocation and Convofair 2011, the students' support towards Pesta Konvo has been a lukewarm. Sejak Convofair 2011 Facebook page were opened on 12 August 2011, only 111 users has like the page, a far cry from the total of UTP students which is about 6,000 people.


4. Is everyone still on gear one for the Convofair preparation? Or everyone is already in Eid Al Fitr mood which is just ended? We need to remind that the Convofair committees have only less than 2 months to prove that they are capable to organize the best Convofair despite the short time of preparation.


5. Convofair Hi-Coms has just organized the Strategic Planning and Team Building session for their committees. We felt that these guys need to be supported morally as their job is among the most challenging between other events, given the short period of time for preparation.


6. Eventhough Convofair is just a side-event in conjunction of Convocation, Convofair has been the most awaited event as it was wholly planned by the students with some assistance from UTP staffs.


7. Eventhough the promotion of Sarawak Layer Cake leads other plannings, actually that's a good thing to see. At least we know that Business Department has started their jobs.


8. Therefore, we at UTPian media would love to provide utmost support towards Convofair 2011. Especially, some of us would be returning to UTP to receive our golden scroll from the Chancellor or Pro-Chancellor. All the best to the committess of Convofair 2011!

Hello UTPians and ex-UTPians!

It's good to be able to blog again after a long break. Writing a column is not easy, it’s not easy to correlate the content of life. Sometimes what we write will give us trouble, and we (the crew) used to get into trouble from our own writing. Well, we live every day of our lives on one slippery slope that either we go around making trouble for ourselves or not, it will happen anyway.

So lets go with the flow, if UTPian Media is gonna be a problem in nature to anybody then we'll just let it be, coz noway we can satisfy everybody.

For some of us (the crew), the campus life is completely over, but since we still have the passion to write about the university matters, then we think we should better get going and voice out our opinion and criticism for the betterment of our beloved UTP. We believe in the pillar of giving the idea especially but not limited to the UTP student so that they open up their mind, It's easier to put on slippers than to carpet the whole world if you understand what we mean.

We will try not to write about national politics, about how politician conspired immense conspiracy to one another etc, enough people have done that even though somehow or rather the university student are still being mostly influenced by political ideology and movement. We know that those who obsess with a particular political party are always prone to confound truth with falsehood, and knowingly conceal the truth and ridicule others by spreading lies and persecution.

When it comes to politics, even a fanatic supporter might purposely neglect and put aside the Islamic teachings knowing that kind words and the covering of faults are better than charity, to defame their political opponents so that people will favor the political party of their choice. Among them are even uneducated folk who know everything not except from hearsay. We are tired of hearing these people say "That people do not follow anything good" and that people say "These people do not follow anything good", while they recite the same Book. Mankind was one single nation, but the way we quarrel seemed like we hope for the establishment of a separate country for each and every one of us.

Allah sent Messengers with glad tidings and warnings; and with them He sent the Book in truth, to judge between people in matters wherein they differed; but the People of the Book, after the clear Signs came to them, did not differ among themselves, except through selfish contumacy. We live in an age while others make history, the unnecessary things are the only thing that we politically strive for.

If we just let this illness remains, then get ready to be hated, discriminated against, protested and demonstrated against somebody by the hatred that hate produced. God gave us shoes, to fit us, so put them on and wear them and be the people God wants us to be. Everybody, should ask themselves.. How or why we ended up being in the position we are in now, in what direction we are actually moving?. Do we really need to cut ourselves to see how much it bleeds?

Hopefully, let the bitterest tears shed over graves are not deeds left undone.

Terlebih dahulu kami ucapkan Salam Bicara 1Universiti sebagai pembuka bicara dan selamat berpuasa kepada seluruh UTPian.

1. Alhamdulillah syukur kehadrat Ilahi kerana sekali lagi kita diberi peluang untuk menikmati bulan Ramadhan, bulan dimana kalau hari biasa Masjid UTP hanya dipenuhi paling banyk pun tiga saf, bulan ramadhan sekurangnya2 waktu isyak dan tarawikh ada 13 saf, just kidding but seriously!

2. Biasalah bila tiba saja bulan ramadhan, selain ibadah, juadah berbuka juga menjadi satu keutamaan tambah2 lg kepada para student yg duk berjauhan dari keluarga, bilamana tak dapat menikmati hidangan yg disediakan emak/keluarga dirumah maka option juadah dari bazaar ramadhan menjadi pengganti.

3. Sekitar luar UTP kita ada beberapa pilihan bazaar ramadhan, antaranya bazaar ramadhan di Seri Iskandar. Bagi pelajar yg berkenderaan, boleh lah pergi setiap hari kesana namun bg pelajar yg tidak mempunyai transportation let say pelajar junior baru dan foreigners i.e Egyptian, maka café2 UTP lah akan menjadi tempat untuk mereka membeli juadah berbuka. Namun bilamana dalam setahun sudah 11 bulan berulang alik ke café sama untuk makan makanan yang sama, tiap2 hari makan kt Pak Ali siapa yang tidak bosan…? Bulan ramadhan biarlah merasa makanan lain pula.

4. Dengan itu inisiatif untuk mengadakan bazaar ramadhan sepertimana yg diadakan di UTP sekrg diaplikasikan, antara lain untuk menghidupkan Susana ramadhan ala Malaysia. Untuk pengetahuan, bazar Ramadhan tahun ini, bukanlah yg kali pertama. Pada tahun 2007, pihak Rakan Masjid UTP melalui Minggu Penghayatan Ramadhan (MPR) pernah menganjurkan bazaar Ramadhan utk peniaga dari sekitar Tronoh dan Seri Iskandar.

5. Penganjuran ini berjaya berlangsung beberapa hari sebelum mendapat tentangan dari pihak Cafe di UTP. Atas alasan; persaingan dan melibatkan beberapa isu legal dgn pihak pengurusan UTP mengenai status dan hak Cafe, bazar Ramadhan yang julung-julung kali di adakan ini terpaksa dibatalkan serta-merta. Sedikit sebanyak memberi kesan negatif terhadap imej UTP dari kalangan peniaga tempatan. Apa yang boleh dipelajar; Pembatalan bazaar tentu saja boleh dielakkan jika pihak penganjur mengkaji setiap aspek dan sudut dari segi implementasi dll. Namun kerana tidak cukup persediaan dan kajian dari segi aspek hak dan peraturan, bila disergah café UTP maka mereka terus rebah.

6. Oleh itu wajar untuk kita mempersoalkan, untuk penganjuran bazaar kali ini, Adakah pihak penganjur (MPPUTP) sudah buat assignment? Faktanya penjualan makanan waktu Ramadhan berlangsung masa tahun 2009 adalah yang paling berjaya dan meriah. Pada masa itu ia dianjurkan oleh RCSU, satu badan pelajar yang dilantik bukan atas dasar politik sempit, kepartian, keRakanan atau aliran..

7. Antara resepi kejayaan bazaar ramadhan 2009 yg boleh dikongsikan disini adalah bazaar tersebut simple - buka meja, bentang alas meja, jual kt ruang cafe v3, v4 tu. Peniaga luar, kakitangan UTP antara yang terlibat menyediakan juadah.

8. Mungkin the honourable MPPUTP patut semak dan rujuk dengan RCSU dan RM yang dah ada pengalaman dalam penganjuran Bazaar Ramadhan semoga bazaar ramadhan dari tahun ketahun ada improvement bukan berada pada tahap yg sama or mcm tahun ni.. sorry to say makin unorganized!.

9. Kalau bazaar pon tak leh nk handle maka kredibiliti mpputp utk handle bigger n more significant event amat diragui. Post mortem yang selama ni buat untuk apa kalau bukan untuk perbaiki kelemahan untuk waktu yang macam ni betul tak?
